Your guide will meet you at your hotel. Departure for the sightseeing of this small town. The altitude of Chilas is 950 m. Situated at the foot of mighty Nanga Parbat (8125 m) and along the banks of legendry Indus, Chilas is a peaceful town today. It is considered as base for different trekking expeditions to Fairy Meadows and Nanga Parbat. High wall of Nanga Parbat protects it from Monsoon winds. Weather here is dry and very cold in winters and very hot in summers. Chilas is also accessible in summers from the Kaghan Valley passing over the Babusar Pass.
Chilas is located in the Gilgit-Baltistan province, situated along the Silk Road. The Karakoram Highway (KKH) connects it to Islamabad in the south via Dassu, Besham, Mansehra, Abbottabad and Haripur. In the north, it connects this town to Gilgit, Aliabad, Karimabad, Gulmit, Passu and the frontier town Sost. It further goes to Khunjerab Pass (4600 m) and connects to the Chinese cities of Pirali, Tashkurgan, Kashgar and Urumqi.
We shall stop near Shatial Bridge where you will discover rock carvings along the roadside. These carvings date back to 5000 to 1000 BC. You will then cross the Indus River hanging bridge and discover a few more petroglyphs dating back the same period. It is estimated that there are more than 50000 petroglyps and inscriptions all along the Karakoram Highway. Your sightseeing will end by a promenade in the village with a few shops selling local handicrafts and souvenirs.

Our guide will meet you at the reception of your hotel. Departure in 4x4 jeeps in the direction of Kalash valley, situated at 45 km distance from Chitral town. Kalash valley is composed of three valleys Bomburet, Rambur and Birir. Majority of population living in these valleys belong to the ethnic group called Kalash or Kafir-Kalash, having their own religious rituals and costumes. This particular culture and belief is totally different from what is being practised in the region for centuries, however, some of their practises are found to be similar to those of Nuristanis, another tribe settled in the north east of Afghanistan. Today, this unique culture and religion is being protected by the government of Pakistan. Lunch. Our halt will be at a Kalash village in Bomburet. Your guide will take you around in the village for a tranquil promenade. Visitors are often surprised to see that most of Kalash people have fair skin complexion, blond hair and clear eyes. It is believed that when Alexander the Great conquered the region in 326 B.C., some of his soldiers refused to accompany him on his way back home. They came here and got married to the locals. Many curious observers from across the world come here to study Kalash culture. This interesting excursion will not only allow you to come closer to Kalash tribes but also enables you to explore different hiking and trekking zones. Return back to hotel in Chitral late in the afternoon. End of our services |

Your guide will meet you at the reception of your hotel. Today, you are going to experience something unique: a rickshaw ride! Accompanied by your guide, you will set off for a short city tour in a nicely decorated Rickshaw directly from your hotel. This mode of transport is not eco friendly nor it is comfortable but this is what a large number of Pakistanis use in their daily life especially in the big cities like Karachi, Hyderabad, Sukkur, Multan, Bahawalpur, Lahore, Rawalpindi, Peshawar, Swat …etc. It is convenient, easily available and certainly the cheapest mode of transportation. Moving around in a Rickshaw in the old town will be an interesting experience for you.
The word “Rickshaw” originates from the Japanese word Jinrikisha, which literally means ‘human powered vehicle’. As per Japanese history books, three men, Izumi Yosuke, Suzuki Tokujiro, and Takayama Kosuke are considered to have invented Rickshaw. This mode of transport was effectively used by the Japanese in 1850 or even earlier. By the end of 1876, there were more than 40000 rickshaws in operation only in Tokyo. It remained in practice until 1930 and disappeared gradually after the industrial revolution and economic boom of the country.
Actually, there are different forms of Rickshaw being used in different countries especially in Asia. In rural India, Bangladesh, Laos, Cambodia, Vietnam, it is called Cycle Rickshaw pulled by a man. In main cities of India, Thailand, Indonesia and Pakistan, it is called Auto Rickshaw where the whole structure is built on a scooter. Today, auto rickshaws in Pakistan are popular alternatives to taxi and public transportation. The government of Pakistan is even taking measure to convert these gasoline run rickshaws into more effective and eco friendly CNG Rickshaws. In-order to incite the owners of these vehicles, government is even offering them a certain rebate either on the purchase of new rickshaws or a financial package to convert the existing ones.
During your excursion, you will be passing by some of the historical monuments such as Bala Hisar Fort and Peshawar Museum. The real fun will commence when you move around in the old town with its narrow and busy streets. If you are enthusiast enough, the whole city tour can also be conducted in Rickshaw. Return back to your hotel and end of our services. |

Your guide will meet you at the reception of your hotel. Today, you are invited to experience something unique in Pakistan: a Tanga ride. Tanga (or Tonga in English) is a light wooden carriage with two big wheels and pulled by a horse. It has become a cultural symbol in Pakistan, India and Bangladesh and remains one of popular modes of transportation because it is not only quite a fun, but also cheaper than a taxi or rickshaw. Tongas are mostly being used in old cities and rural areas of Pakistan and not allowed on highways in the cities because of their slow pace. Its big wooden wheels lack shock absorbers and therefore, tonga ride could shake you up on uneven road. In villages and towns, tonga is still considered as a traditional feature of weddings and other social functions. In remote areas, it is not only used to carry clients from one place to another but also to transport goods and heavy commodities. Despite its charm, tonga is slowly becoming less popular amongst youngsters in the cities who prefer to take rickshaw as it goes much faster.
Tonga is being used in the sub-continent for a few hundred years. It used to be considered as a ‘royal’ mode of transport during the reign of Moghols. It was especially used during the feasts by the members of Royal court, Nawabs or Maharajas, rich tradesmen, owners of factories, elite, socially well placed families and some dignitaries. It's carriage was richly decorated by highly skilled professionals and the use of nicely decorated Tanga was quite synonymous of social ascension.
Apart from being a pollution free mode of transport, it is quite a delight for a visitor to discover part of a city on a Tanga or Tonga. With its slow pace, It is certainly the nice way to closely observe and enjoy the local life. During your excursion, you will pass by some of the historical monuments such as Bala Hisar Fort and Gandhara Museum. If you are enthusiast enough, the duration of your excursion can also be prolonged. Return back to your hotel and end of our services. |

You will see people sitting there, sipping green tea and gossiping for hours and hours. Their debate topic could vary from cock fight that took place the day before to the next general elections.
Your guide will then take you to the old part of Peshawar where you will walk through the famous Qissa Khawni Bazaar or Story tellers bazaar. In the gone day, trade caravans used to come and stay here in Serai. Unfortunately, there is no Serai left today. While walking through the bazaar, you will passing by the different shops Pottery works, then Bater bazaar and Mochi Lara well known for its stylish embroidered sandals that have become integral part of local dressing.

Meet with your guide at the reception of your hotel. Departure in the direction of Swat to visit a well preserved Buddhist monastery of Takhat-e-Bai, situated at 85 km in the north east of Peshawar. It was founded in the early 1st century AD, and was successively occupied and expanded from that time until it fell into disuse. Owing to its location on the crest of a hill, it escaped the invasions of the Huns and other antagonistic peoples, leaving it today with much of its original character intact.
Most of the Buddhist monasteries in the neighbouring countries such as Bhutan, China and Nepal are built on the hills and away from the cities and residential areas. This is to allow monks meditate in peace and perfect harmony with the nature. Takht-e-Bai monastery is also in perfect line with this principle as it is situated at the top of a hill, 150 m high from the ground level. During early excavations, many sculptures were found here. Some depicted stories from the life of Lord Buddha while others, more devotional in nature, included Buddha and Bodhisattva.
Upon arrival, we shall walk up the hill to discover the monastery. Thakt-e-Bai was unearthed in the early 20th century and is the only well preserved Buddhist monastery in Pakistan. This monastic complex comprises of a main Court with the main Stupa of almost 10 meters high. It is supposed to enshrine the ashes of Lord Buddha and is surrounded by the chapels. The adjacent court shows us 38 votive Stupas made by the students who lived here and later became Monks. Then we will see the cells of Monks in the Monastery Court. These cells are believed to be originally plastered and painted in different colours. Lunch will be served at a restaurant with a local speciality Chapple Kabab. Drive back to Peshawar. Arrival at your hotel and end of our services. |

Your guide will pick you up from your hotel. Skardu town is perched at an altitude of 2440 m above sea level in the backdrop of the great Karakorams. The local Balti people are a mixture of Tibetan and Caucasian culture and speak Balti, an ancient form of Tibetan. Due to the proximity of its culture, lifestyle and architecture with Tibet, this region is also known as the "Tibet-e-Khurd" (Little Tibet).
It is the capital of Skardu District. It constitutes one of the seven districts of the Gilgit-Baltistan Province. It is bounded on the southeast by Kargil district (within Indian-administered Kashmir), on the east by Ghanche District, on the northeast by Xinjiang (China), on the south by Baramulla and Kargil District, on the west by Astor district and on the north by Gilgit.
It has its borders with the Chinese province of Xinjiang and Indian Kashmir. This zone is also known as trekkers and mountaineers paradise as it is the starting point to treks and peaks all around the valley. Five of its lush green valleys offer you the quietude and tranquillity: Shigar, Skardu, Khaplu, Rondu and Kharmang. During the summer season, one cannot resist to its luscious peaches, apricots, apples and pears.
Our day’s programme will commence by the visit of Skardu Fort atop a ridge and overlooking the whole town. We depart in the direction of Satpara. You will discover en route, a meditating Buddha surrounded by dozens of small bodhisattvas, carved on the north face of a large rock about halfway between Skardu and Satpara.
We shall then leave for Satpara Lake, situated at 08 km south of Skardu at 20 minutes drive. The lake is well stocked with trout. In the nearby village, people speak Shina, the main language of the Gilgit valley whereas Balti is spoken in all other surrounding valleys.

Meet with your guide at the reception of your hotel and proceed for the sightseeing of Swat. It was the ancient Buddhist land of ’Udeyana’ mentioned in Sanskrit texts and was once the cradle of Buddhism. Alexander the Great came here in 327 BC on his route to India and conquered some of its territory. Since then, this land has faced many invasions over the centuries. Today, this lush green valley, with its lakes, its terraced fields, its snow covered peaks of Hindu Kush range, its green rivers of glacial waters, its torrents and its thickly forested zones is considered by many as Switzerland of the East. Today, Swat is a well known summer resort amongst domestic and international tourists and offers many opportunities to its visitors to discover its historical and cultural heritage, its fauna and flora, its mountain treks, its hidden valleys and villages perched on the mountains and its fruit orchards. Swat has all to satisfy the curiosity of its visitors.
We will commence our visit by Swat Museum with its nice collection of Gandhara sculptures collected from some of the Buddhist sites in the valley. A few coins and weapons are also displayed as well as local embroidery, carved wood and tribal embroidery.
Next visit will be of Butkara, an important Buddhist site close to the museum. Here, you will discover the main Stupa surrounded by many smaller Stupas of different sizes. Historians believe that it was probably built in the 2nd century BC by the Emperor Ashoka of Mauryan dynasty. It was Emperor Ashoka who contributed in a big way in propagating Buddhism in the neighbouring countries. This fact has now been validated by many historians that Ashoka’s period was the time when Buddhism flourished the most. Unfortunately, most of stone carvings found here have been shifted to other countries. You will discover the headless statue of Buddha standing on a lotus flower.
Our next stop will be in the commercial zone of Saidu Sharif in Mingora. Here we will walk through its colourful bazaar with its different boutiques of handicrafts, local jewellery, shawls and restaurants. This region is also well known for its handmade carpets.

Your guide will meet you at your hotel. Drive to Taxila and visit some of its famous Buddhist sites and Stupas, Dharmarajika Stupa, Bhir mound, Sirkap, Sirsukh, Jaulian monastery and an interesting museum depicting different life scenes of Lord Buddha. The history of Taxila spans about 1000 years (516 BC to 600 AD). It was a British Jhon Marshal who excavated Taxila for the first time in 1913. Later on, many other international and Pakistani archeologists worked on these excavations and put into light some other Buddhist sites and monasteries.
The Kingdom of Gandhara included a part of present day Afghanistan, Taxila, Peshawar, a few parts of northern Pakistan and Varanasi in India. The promotion and propagation of Buddhism really started when prince Ashoka of Mauriyan dynasty converted into Buddhism conquered the neighbouring countries and as a sign of his victory, constructed pillars which were later known as “Pillar of Ashoka”. Taxila was once the capital of Gandhara during the Mauriyan dynasty. Later on, it became the permanent capital during the Kushans.
