Cholistan Desert

Cholistan is a huge desert with more than 26000 square km, which starts 30 km south of Bahawalpur in the province of Punjab in Pakistan and joins Thar Desert in the southern province of Sindh and then continues into India. It is also known as Rohi amongst the local nomadic populations. These nomadic tribes and clans have been living in this region for centuries and keep moving from one place to another in search of water.

Tourists from different countries come here especially in Autmn and Spring seasons to enjoy Camel Safaris and Jeep Safaris and explore this nomadic way of life. The famous Cholistan Desert Jeep Rally is also organized here every year and competitors from different countries come here to participate in it. This event of jeep rally has helped promoting the Cholistan Desert and this area is gaining popularity amongst the tourists who are curious to discover new horizons.
