| Bhurban is a small town and a hill station in the Punjab Province of Pakistan, located approximately 12 kilometers from Murree, at a height of about 1 830 meters. It is a much-favoured minor resort on a long ridge that descends northwards to the Jhelum River, near a pine forest. It is a tranquil and peaceful place to spend a night or two.Once upon a time, numerous British officers had their residence at Bhurban for its serene atmosphere and its golf courses. Colonial style houses can still be found here, as well as a small church. After Partition in 1947, a majority of churches and convents were taken over by missionaries, who transformed them into prestigious schools, locally famous for their level of excellence even today.Bhurban has recently been made accessible by the dual Islamabad-Murree Express Way, making it a 90-minute drive from the federal capital of the country. The place offers breathtaking views, various picnic spots, horse riding facilities and trekking itineraries. It is also home to a wide variety of animal species.The Golf Hotel, one of the best situated in the area, is just next to a well known nine-hole golf course (open from April till October). There are good walks across the golf course, with fine open views back up to Murree and the ridge with the main Galis, and across the Jhelum to Kashmir; on a clear day one can even see Nanga Parbat.Bhurban is especially a visual threat from mid-December till mid-March, when it is completely recovered by snow. Skiing and tobogganing enthusiasts will make the most of the occasion. From Bhurban you can continue down to Kohala and Muzaffarabad.
